PlayStation Now is Sony's new full-game streaming service, and it's scheduled to debut this summer.

First announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, the new Bravia TV series spans nine 4K models. These range in price from $2,099 for a 49" TV all the way up to the incomprehensibly expensive $24,999 for an 85" display. More details about the new Bravia TV line are available at Sony's website.

The new Bravia TVs will let you stream PS3 games, but you'll need a DualShock 3 controller to play. It's unclear if a controller is included, but at those prices, we certainly hope that's the case. Sony's 4K TVs promise to deliver four times the standard resolution of 1080p sets.

PlayStation Now was developed for Sony by streaming company Gaikai, which Sony purchased in 2012 for $380 million. The service is currently in beta and will launch this summer in North America. There's no word yet on when European gamers can get in on the action.

You'll be able to stream older-generation games through your PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita, as well as the aforementioned Bravia TVs and even smartphones and tablets sometime down the road. One argument that constantly makes the rounds is the fact that right now, more PlayStation 4 games run in 1080p than they do on Xbox One. In fact, one of the Xbox One's biggest and most important titles to date--Respawn Entertainment's multiplayer shooter Titanfall--does not run in 1080p. But the debate over respective resolutions between platforms does not interest Titanfall producer Drew McCoy.

"It's the console wars. It's Sega does what Nintendon't," McCoy told GameSpot at PAX East about why he believes the 1080p debate has gathered so much attention this year. "There's going to be games that look better on one or the other. There's going to be exclusives that look better, for whatever reason. And we never set out to engage in the tech war. I feel like that's a war that no one actually wins."

"We never set out to engage in the tech war. I feel like that's a war that no one actually wins" Titanfall producer Drew McCoy

"We consciously just decided that we're going to make a game that's fun and new and exciting and then worry about making it as good-looking as we can," he added. "And I don't think we made an ugly game, but no one in the office will tell you we made the prettiest game out there. Or [the one that] runs at the highest resolution."

Titanfall runs in the oddball native resolution of 792p, and because it's not available on PS4, there is obviously no comparison to be made there. McCoy teased that Respawn is experimenting with ways in which it can improve visual performance, but overall, he doesn't want to get wrapped up in a debate about specs. It's just not worth it, he says.

"We have more that we can do. We're looking at performance stuff on Xbox One; the PC patch added some stuff; and we're working with NVIDIA for some things on PC as well," McCoy said. "At the end of the day we don't really care. People were roasting us because we run at higher than 720p but we're not a solid locked [60fps] yet. And it's like, 'Yeah, well you know what, guess what? The GPU isn't always a thing that limits your frame rate and your performance.' So we hit the highest resolution we could without limiting the GPU."

Titanfall's first DLC expansion, Expedition, launches next month and introduces three new multiuplayer maps to the game. He dreams of a future where "everyone loves games" and they are a "respected" medium like film or music.

"Video games have always been a part of my life," Chen told Mashable in a new interview. "I always played games with my friends, but as I got older, my friends stopped playing."

"People still read novels, watched movies, listened to music. The fact most of my friends are abandoning games makes me feel sad," he added. "How can I help video games not just be for kids, and respected from people of all ages and genders? My dream is to make everyone love video games."

"The fact most of my friends are abandoning games makes me feel sad" -- Jenova Chen

Chen went on to say that video games too often only cater to genres that are most appealing to a young male audience instead of tapping into categories that can appeal to wider audiences. In order for video games, as a medium, to become "healthy" and "respected," developers need to expand into new genres, Chen argued.

"Look at the genres women like: a romantic comedy game doesn't exist. Few examples of a documentary game exist," Chen said. "What is the equivalent of a real drama game? They don't exist. Emotion with that complexity for a more mature, older audience are necessary to make medium like video games healthy, so it can be highly respected like the film industry."

For Chen, video games can be so much more than a simple distraction from the struggles of your daily life. In fact, he argues that video games, when appropriately designed, can help people cope with loss or even help expand their minds.

"These games have more meaning than just pleasure, or just a moment of escape," Chen said. "There is more power in these games when you are doing it right. I think certain types of feelings can heal and change people, can make their lives better. We want to make positive change to the human psyche worldwide, even if you just think it's just entertainment."

thatgamecompany is currently working on an unannounced game that it will self-publish. When it goes live, which should be any moment now, you can get the game for $30, discounted from $35 for one week only.

The Golf Club is still on track to be released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 "soon," but those platforms do not support in-development games like Steam does. HB Studios, which has worked on numerous sports titles across the Tiger Woods, Madden, and FIFA franchises, says that The Golf Club will "redefine the genre" across console and PC.

The game is designed to support 1-4 players for local "couch multiplayer," but it also includes an asynchronous online multiplayer mode where you can compete against "live balls" or "ghost balls" from other players. The Early Access version of The Golf Club includes three modes: stroke play, match play, and 4-balls.

One of the biggest selling points for The Golf Club is that it, unlike EA's Tiger Woods series, has "no loading times" between holes. The Golf Club also features a Course Creator tool, where you can build and share courses with your friends, as well as a social features that allow you to track your scores against your friends and compete for the lowest rounds.

Unlike EA's professional golf series, which will not be called Tiger Woods when it is revived for Xbox One and PS4, The Golf Club does not feature actual PGA Tour professionals or courses. For its part, EA's next-gen golf game also looks absolutely stunning. Developer Toys for Bob traveled to Nintendo of America's headquarters and demonstrated an early version of the game.

"[Nintendo] spent a long time looking and looking," Toys for Bob cofounder Paul Reiche said. "They were just like 'we have never seen anything like this before.' "Clearly, they have got properties well suited to this world. Why it is that they didn't rush in here will probably haunt them for the rest of their days."

It seems Nintendo isn't soured on the "toys-to-life" idea overall, however, as the company released a Skylanders-style game, Pokemon Rumble U, last year for the Wii U. Just like Skylanders, players can buy real-world toys and integrate them into the game world using the Wii U's NFC technology.

Also in the interview, Reiche says he was surprised that Disney responded so quickly to what Toys for Bob and Activision were doing with the Skylanders series with its own game, Disney Infinity, released last year. He still maintains that Nintendo could have left Disney in the dust.

"Nintendo could have kicked Disney's ass," Reiche said. "If I was running Nintendo I would have jumped on this."

Eddie Makuch is a news editor at GameSpot, and you can follow him on Twitter @EddieMakuch

Got a news tip or want to contact us directly?

Then if you pop that drive into your computer, it shouldn't be too much effort to upload it to YouTube, if that's what you're after--you can still only upload your clips directly to Facebook via the PS4 itself right now.

As previously announced, the PS4 1.70 system update will also allow you disable HDCP on your games, allowing you to pass the signal through an external capture device (such as an Elgato) and edit them yourselves.

There's no release date yet, but Sony says it will be coming soon.

Sony also released a new trailer for SHAREfactory, allowing you to have a look at how the new app will work:

Thu, 17 Apr 2014 03:30:00 -0700 http://www.gamespot.com/articles/sony-details-ps4-digital-preloading-video-editing-and-hdcp-off-features-coming-in-1-70-update/1100-6419049/ http://www.gamespot.com/articles/mario-kart-8-wii-u-bundle-spotted-online/1100-6419048/

Nintendo looks set to unveil a Mario Kart Wii U console bundle, with artwork for the deal popping up online.

French site Gameblog reports that the console is due to arrive when the game launches across the US and Europe on May 30.

The box is reported to contain a standard old black Wii U Premium--that's the one with 32GB of storage--a copy of the game, and a one week trial of Nintendo's Wii U Karaoke app.

Nintendo has not officially confirmed the bundle, but its existence probably won't come as a whopping surprise. The company is no stranger to these sort of bundles, having released a similar deal for last year's The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. That bundle was released at the same $300 price as a standard Wii U, suggesting a sizeable discount could be in store for anyone currently mulling over whether to invest in a Wii U for the next Mario Kart game.
