Microsoft Apologizes Over Late Xbox 360 Developer Payments

Microsoft has released a statement apologizing for late payments to some Xbox 360 indie developers, saying the company did not intentionally withhold sales, but rather a bug in the system was to blame.

"Due to a technical issue in our payment system, we recently learned that some payments to select developers in the Xbox Live Indie Games program on Xbox 360 were delayed," Microsoft said in a statement. "Our partners are important to us and we work hard to help make sure they have a great development experience. This was an unfortunate error and we are working hard to fix it. We apologize for this incident and anticipate developers will receive payments within the next two weeks."

Of course, this is not ideal for the affected developers, especially as we enter the holiday season. However, it appears Microsoft is making good on its payment promises and all should be straightened out before Christmas and New Years.

This issue does not affect Xbox One indie developers, Microsoft also clarified.

Reports yesterday, December 3, indicated Microsoft was late with payments to some Xbox 360 indie developers. However, it's unclear how widespread the issue was.
